Monica Talks Low Album Sales, New Single & More

There's no doubt about it that every year, it gets harder and harder to sell R&B music. Monica released her album "New Life" and it snagged the #4 spot on Billboard's Top 200 Albums, selling 69,000 units. Her previous effort "Still Standing" shifted 184K copies in it's first week.

Urban music site Rap-Up recently caught up with the singer in Los Angeles and she shared her thoughts about her low album sales and why she's not or never was really focused on it. She also reveals her newest single and sheds light on the inspiration for the song and it's video. Check it out below.

It's a tough pill to swallow, but I can honestly say that I believe her. She's well aware of the state that R&B music is in and will not stop creating it. She's said it time and time again that she will not try to do dance or pop music. She recent;y expressed her interest in doing gospel music when her career starts to wind down. I have the album and it's nothing but R&B. I still don't like the "It All Belongs To Me" duet but the album has a few cuts. Her new single "Without Me" is defintiely one of them. Check it out below if you already haven't.
