2012 BET Awards: Nominations & News / by

The 2012 BET Awards have been announced and will take place July 1st live in Los Angeles at The Shrine Auditorium and will be hosted by Samuel L. Jackson. So far, Nicki Minaj and Chris Brown have been confirmed to perform on the show.

The nominations have also been released. Kanye West leads the pack with a whopping seven nominatinos. Beyoncé follows behind him with a cool six nominations (how, I have no clue) and Jay-Z is right behind her with five nominations. Check out the full list of nominees and my winner predicitons below.

 Best Female R&B Artist
- Marsha Ambrosius
- Beyoncé
- Mary J. Blige
- Melanie Fiona
- Rihanna

Why do these award shows constantly put Rihanna in the R&B category? She is NOT R&B and never will be!!! It really fustrates me. I'm sure that Beyoncé will win this one.
Best Male R&B Artist
- Chris Brown
- Bruno Mars
- Miguel
- Trey Songz
- Usher

Why is Chris Brown nominated? He won like a million awards last year at the BET Awards for that F.A.M.E. album. He can't possibly win awards for the same album. I will be really upset because if he wins, it's like he'll be winning awards from the same album and that's not fair. The winner of this one will be Usher.

Best Group
- Bad Meets Evil
- Diddy-Dirty Money
- Maybach Music Group
- Mindless Behavior
- The Throne (Jay-Z & Kanye West)

Of course The Throne (Jay-Z & Kanye West) will take this one home. Why in the hell is Diddy-Dirty Money nominated and they aren't even a group anymore? BET is just so behind in the time.

Best Collaboration
- Beyoncé featuring J. Cole, "Party"
- Big Sean featuring Kanye West & Roscoe Dash, "Marvin & Chardonnay"
- DJ Khaled featuring Drake, Rick Ross & Lil Wayne, "I'm On One"
- Drake featuring Lil Wayne & Tyga, "The Motto"
- The Throne (Jay-Z & Kanye West) featuring Otis Redding, "Otis"
- Wale featuring Miguel, "Lotus Flower Bomb"

Hmmmm...as much as I love Beyoncé, I don't think fans were happy with the fact that Andre 3000 was replaced by J. Cole, this one will go to The Thone!

Best Male Hip-Hop Artist
- Big Sean
- Drake
- J. Cole
- Lil Wayne
- Rick Ross
- Young Jeezy

Drake will for sure win this one.

Best Female Hip-Hop Artist
- Diamond
- Nicki Minaj
- Brianna Perry
- Trina

Dimaond??? Trina??? Who in the hell is Brianna Perry? Right, we know Nicki Minaj will win this one. Where is the Lil Kim nomination? Won't BET need her to "sensationalize" the show?

Video of the Year
- Beyoncé, "Countdown"
- Beyoncé, "Love On Top"
- The Throne (Jay-Z & Kanye West), "N---as in Paris"
- The Throne (Jay-Z & Kanye West) featuring Otis Redding, "Otis"?
- Usher, "Climax"

Now you know that I love Beyoncé. But how in the bloody hell did she get TWO video nominations? I really didn't like the "Countdown" video and the "Love On Top" wasn't even a REAL video. A whole verse was cut out. Secondly, there are FIVE nominees but only 3 artists... it's obvious that the winner will either be Beyoncé or The Throne and I'm sure Beyoncé will win this one as well.

Video Director of the Year
- Beyoncé & Alan Ferguson
- Benny Boom
- Chris Brown & Godfrey Tabarez
- Kanye West
- Hype Williams

Answer this for me...what video did Beyoncé direct? Because I honestly don't know. But I think that they will give this one to the winner of Video of the Year..which will be Beyoncé.

Best New Artist
- A$AP Rocky
- Big Sean
- Diggy
- Future
- Meek Mill

This is easy, Big Sean is taking this award home.

Best Gospel
- Yolanda Adams
- Kim Burrell

- Fred Hammond
- Trin-I-Tee 5:7

Yolanda Adams gets my vote.

Best Actress
- Angela Bassett
- Viola Davis
- Taraji P. Henson
- Regina King
- Zoe Saldana

Viola Davis and her work in "The Help" is going to win her this award. She wasn't nominated for an Oscar for nothing.

Best Actor
- Don Cheadle
- Common
- Idris Elba
- Kevin Hart
- Denzel Washington

This one is definitely going to Kevin Hart.

Young Stars Award
- Astro
- Diggy
- Jacob Latimore
- Keke Palmer
- Willow Smith

I want my girl Willow to win this one...even though she hasn't given me a hit since "Whip My Hair"

Best Movie
- Good Deeds
- Jumping the Broom
- Laugh at My Pain
- Red Tails
- The Help

The Help! This movie had me in tears.
Subway Sportswoman of the Year
- Skylar Diggins
- Brittney Griner
- Candace Parker
- Serena Williams
- Venus Williams

I'm not into sports..but Serena Williams gets my vote.

Subway Sportsman of the Year
- Carmelo Anthony
- Kobe Bryant
- Victor Cruz
- Kevin Durant
- LeBron James

Lets go Carmelo Anthony!!

Coca-Cola Viewers' Choice Award
- Beyoncé, "Love on Top"
- Chris Brown, "Turn Up the Music"
- Drake featuring Lil Wayne & Tyga, "The Motto"
- Mindless Behavior,  "Hello"
- The Throne (Jay-Z & Kanye West) featuring Otis Redding, "Otis"
- Wale featuring Miguel, "Lotus Flower Bomb"

The viewers will pick Mindless Behavior...but I won't.

Centric Award
- Common
- Estelle
- Robert Glasper
- Robin Thicke
- Tyrese

Tyrese will take this home.

Best International Act: Africa
- Camp Mulla (Kenya)
- Ice Prince (Nigeria)
- Lira (South Africa)
- Mokobe (Mali)
- Sarkodie (Ghana)
- Wizkid (Nigeria)

Never heard of ANY of them...but I'll say Ice prince.

Best International Act: U.K.
- Estelle
- Labrinth
- Emeli Sandé
- Sway
- Wretch 32
Emeli Sandé, only because I've heard of her before.

I'm sorry. I just don't see how Beyoncé, her husband and her husband's best friend got ALL of the nominations. Last year wasn't even BIG for Beyoncé. She didn't even get nominated for any Grammy Awards. I'm so baffled right now. There were so many other great videos that have been released. I mean, they could have even nominated "Run The World (Girls)" over the "Countdown" video.

In a way, I'm happy for her and her nominations, but did she deserve them....I don't think so because the album hit the damn sea floor. It didn't do too well. I loved the album and every song on it, but for it not to hit a high note on the Grammy's and make a major dent on the charts, it shouldn't have recieved so many nominations.

The Throne, I can agree. They had a massive year. Plus they are still touring for the project. Beyoncé didn't even go on tour. She went and had a baby. I just have to see how this is played out. But I already know, this was done to set her up for a comeback. Billboard did it for her last year, and now it's BET's turn. I ain't mad at her...

What do you think about the nominations? Did any of your favorites make the list? Was it rigged? Comment below.
