With Whitney, the song that you will hear was lifted from her last album. It's one of my absolute favorite song from her ever. On Nicki, you will hear one of my favorite tracks from her latest album and the same thing with Keyshia. All three of these women and their albums grace my iPod and are in a constant rotation on a day to day basis. Check out the tunes below.
I Look To You" was one of 2009's best efforts. It was Whitney Houston's first album in over seven years and she came back to the business securing herself yet another #1 album. Who knew that it would be her last. The entire album from start to finish was stellar. Fans got a little of every side of Whitney the we knew. This particular song gave me the 90's vibe and put me in the mindset of "Step By Step" and "I'm Every Woman" with it's uptempo dance production. When I first heard it, I skipped it, because the first minute or so, the song is very slow with her singing along to a piano, and I was like nope, I wanna hear the next song. Then one day I read a review about the song and it said that it picks up to become an uptempo song. So I finally listened to it and was in love with it!! I loved the notes that she hit, I loved the raspy voice and everything about it. I can listen to it over and over. One of the lyrics in the song says "when my life is over, remember when we were together. We we're alone, and I was singing this song for you." I say to myself that Bobbi-Kristina, close family and friends should listen to this and feel good about everything. Ladies and gentlemen, I bring you "A Song For You". Listen to it below.
Nicki Minaj is someone that you will either hate or love. I love her. When I hear her music, someone turns on the Minaj light switch inside of me. This past weekend I was with my bffs in the car and "Starships" came on the radio and I was just going too damn strong in that car. Needless to say, I love her entire "Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded" album, from start to finish. Well, minus 3 songs. Hell, I even listen to the iTunes bonus interview. This song in particular is one of the few that I think has some type of meaning behind it. I can actually paint a visual inside of my head based off oft the lyrics that she sings. Although I do enjoy a lot of the other tracks, a few of them can't seem to generate a visual in my mind. This is also a fan favorite and I'm hoping that she releases it as a single and give us a video for it. Take a listen to "Fire Burn" below.
Keyshia Cole and I didn't know that there was a video for it AND it was a single. I JUST found out while doing this post. "Take Me Away" is the song. All this time, I've been calling it "I Love My Baby". The crazy thing is, that I have the album on my iPod and I keep it on shuffle. So i rarely look at it and select songs to listen to. I found out about this song by just randomly listening to my iPod and I was like "oh this is Keyshia Cole and it's a feel good summer type song. That's how I describe it in my head and I've been jamming to it for well over a year now. SMH...I just watched the video and I absolutely LOVE it. She looks so pretty and so feminine. Get into it below...well you probably have and left my ole slow ass behind in the dust.
Hope you enjoyed. Comment below and tell me about some songs that you think are hot shit and I'll post them on the next "Best You Never Heard".
