If you've been under a rock, then you missed the announcement about Ciara giving her "One Woman Army" album a face-lift and a 360 degree turn around. The album's title was changed, the singles were swapped and the project is going in a totally different direction. Not the patriotic way we saw last year.
The name of the album is now called "Ciara" and will be released on July 9th via Epic Records. The lead single "Body Party" and it's video will debut on Monday April 22nd. It all left fans and critics confused so she explained the switches and why they were necessary. Check it below.
“I started working on this record more than a year ago and since then, I have found my creative clarity on the direction I wanted to go in,” stated Ciara. “It was almost a whole surge of fresh energy and I pushed myself to be even more creative.” “I’m more open to change,” Ciara continued.
“I’m learning so much of about myself and I’ve become really comfortable and free. This album goes beyond my music. This time it’s about taking a new journey with me. I’m running towards my fears and the things that would usually make me uncomfortable—I’m in tune with what’s happening to me, and I’m not afraid of expressing myself.”
I don't know. I'm starting to give the success of this project the side eye mainly because it was just switched over night. Like, Tyree and I were on Wikipedia early Monday morning and saw this and thought that it was a joke. We saw the cover and the name of the album change, but we didn't think it was real until it popped up on other sites and blogs. I did one of these...
It's like this is the formula for failure. L.A. Reid needs to be dealt with. The entire direction was flipped on the world, not only that but the songs too. The singles were all pretty much a waste of money along with their videos. And what pissed off people even more was the fact that this album only has 10 songs plus a bonus track.....again..
But I'm still gonna atttempt to keep hope alive. This "Body PArty" video better be the best damn thing she's ever done, or it's a wrap..I'm gonna wash my hands and close the curtains. I'm gonna "Take A Bow" like Rihanna told me too. Speaking of Rihanna, after hearing the news about Ciara's push back, this is what she had to say...
