Lady Gaga Reveals "Applause" Single Cover / by


Consider your wigs snatched! Lady Gaga just unveiled the official cover for highly anticipated single "Applause". She wrote the song along with DJ White Shadow. It will be the first offering from her upcoming album"ARTPOP" which is due out November 11th. The single will be released on Aug. 19th and the album will also be available for pre-order.

Following it's release, she will storm the stage of the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards. She will perform the song live for the first time. The image for the cover above was captured by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin. She also gave some details about the single. Peep them below.



Speaking to WWD, Gaga had this to say about the single.

“I’ll tell you that it is very fun,” she says. “And that it’s full of happiness, because what I’m saying in the song essentially is that I live for the applause. I live for the way you cheer and scream for me. Give me that thing that I love. Put your hands up, make them touch.”
She also shared what people to belive to be are lyrics from "Applause".

‘Give me that thing that I love. Give it to me. I’m ready, start the music.’ I’m from New York. I’ve worked since I was a five-year-old to be a performer. All my life. I deserve to be here. I’m ready.”

The cover is very artsy. It kind of puts me in the mind of a mime. It's also like a piece of artwork that one could applaud...hence the title of the song. Do I like the cover, no I do not. It's not what I expected based off the promo shots I saw...but hey she always does the unexpected so it doesn't matter. Hold on to your wigs becuase the Gaga storm is'a comin'!!
