I wanted to wait until the official track was released tomorrow, but I just had to see what the fuss was about. Yesterday, Mariah Carey announced that her new single, "You're Mine (Eternal)", would be released on 2/12/14 as well as the video. Her album will hit store in May. Just a few nights ago, she performed the new song at the BET Honors ceremony.
That performance will be televised on 2/24/14 on BET. However, audio from that night surfaced and that was how fans got to listen to the piano driven R&B ballad. It's said to bring people back to the "We Belong Together" days. Everything is happening just in time for Valentine's Day, hence the sweet looking artwork for the cover. Get into the live audio track below.
I mean........the song is very mediocre. I hate that she always tries to recreate things which is why they always utterly fail. I loved "#Beautiful" because it was something different. This song does sound reminiscent of "We Belong Together" and "Don't Forget About Us".
Those were two of her successful songs so she's trying to recreate that success in my eyes. She did the exact same thing with her single "I Wan't To Know What Love Is". She tried to go back to the "Vision of Love" look with the video...It didn't work. She can't move on from the past, which is why she felt the need to remind the world with the video about what's she accomplished decades ago.
Needless to say, the song is cute. I like it. I was just hoping for something different like "#Beautiful". What do you think about the song?
